About Aryabhatta Inter School Mathematics Competition
Aryabhatta, as we all know is one of the India’s greatest Mathematician- astronomers. He is the man behind the invention of the digit Zero (0). Along with that, he is also the author of some of the greatest books of Mathematics and astronomy. His most appreciated work is Aryabhatiya, which is an abstract of Mathematics and Astronomy which is broadly attributed in the Indian Mathematical literature and even referred to in the modern times. Arithmetic, algebra, spherical trigonometry and plane trigonometry are some of the most important topics which are covered in the Mathematical part of Aryabhatiya. Along with that, it also covers quadratic equations, table of sines, continued fractions and power series. Aryabhatta Inter-school Mathematics competition is an initiative of Summer Fields School, Kailash colony, New Delhi. Aryabhatta Inter-school mathematics competition began in 1982 with the motive of analysing and improving the minds of India’s young Mathematicians. Over the years, the competition has gained tremendous popularity in which students from some of the India’s most prestigious schools participate ardently. Due to enormous response, the Inter-school competition has become one of the most important exams in Mathematics. The intention behind Aryabhatta inter school Mathematics competition is to breed conclusive approach and sharpen Mathematical intelligence of our next generation.

Maximum marks: 100
Total questions: class 5th- 45 questions, class 8th- 60 questions

Geometry: Congruency and Similarity of Triangles, Pair of angles, Parallel lines, Triangles, Quadrilateral, Types of Quadrilaterals and related properties, Circles.
UNIT: 6
Statistics: Frequency distribution and cumulative frequency distribution table, range and class marks; mean, median and mode of ungrouped data.
Format of Question paper:
Logical Reasoning (MCQs) – 10 Questions of 1 mark each.
Multiple Choice Questions – 20 Questions of 1 mark each.
Free Response Questions (Type I) – 20 Questions of 2 mark each.
Free Response Questions (Type II) – 10 Questions of 3 mark each.
